Wristbands for cash
We were loading into a venue for a show. It was bustling with people and all well lit and bright. The venue was also part of a school and there was a program with kids getting out of a classroom. One young geeky black girl with braces and glasses said “this looks very Weeny” others laughed I knew what she meant. She said “the band Ween and laughed.” I was impressed she knew who Ween was and even though it is far off I was mildly flattered. I began comparing itchy-O with Ween in my mind. I was then waiting for Patterson to arrive. It was noon. He got there a little late. He owed me some money and I asked him for it while he was on his way through texting. He handed me a small brown envelope. I opened it up in privacy and at first I was surprised at how much cash was the but then when I looked closer what I thought were bills were two stacks; one of wristbands and the other tickets- both had what looked like currency numbers on them but were not money. And then it had a few one dollar bills and some coins. I was confused and annoyed. I figured his girlfriend Adria had something to do with it. I confronted him about it and was a bit nervous and embarrassed too. He gives so much to the project but it felt dishonest wand bizarre like a statement they were making..,it was awkward. He acted like he didn’t know anything about it when I confronted him. There were two big sound consoles, one in a back room the other in the house. I asked him if he liked the board and he seemed preoccupied and said “not really”

This dream seems to weave together themes of social interaction, trust, and a subtle sense of dissonance or misalignment within collaborative spaces. The brightly lit, bustling venue combined with the school setting suggests a place of learning and performance—a blend of growth, creativity, and structured community. The mention of the young girl recognizing a band that others might not know hints at an appreciation for subtle knowledge or shared cultural references that foster connection and mutual recognition. This moment of feeling mildly flattered indicates a desire for acceptance and validation within the group or creative endeavor. Your mental comparison between two bands might symbolize evaluating different influences or approaches, perhaps reflecting internal reflection on identity or values tied to your work or social circle. The arrival of Patterson, who owes you money but delivers wristbands and tickets instead of straightforward cash, introduces a metaphor around expectations and reality. Monetary exchange here turns into symbolic currency—wristbands and tickets—that resemble money but lack its direct value. This could reflect feelings of miscommunication, ambiguous commitments, or symbolic gestures that don’t fully meet practical needs. The involvement of a third person (his girlfriend) and your mixed feelings of nervousness, embarrassment, and suspicion point to complex interpersonal dynamics where trust and clarity feel compromised. The sound consoles, positioned both publicly and in a private back room, may represent different aspects of control or influence—public-facing versus behind-the-scenes roles. Patterson’s apparent disinterest in the board, despite being heavily invested in the project, suggests a possible disconnect between appearance and inner feelings, or an underlying tension between responsibility and personal engagement. Overall, this dream may be exploring your navigation of mixed signals and ambiguous exchanges within collaborative or creative communities, highlighting the emotional landscape of trust, validation, and the search for genuine connection amidst complexity.
