Gun shot

A peace negotiation between two rival gangs was taking place in a closed room in the city. Members of both gangs were standing outside, fully prepared for violence if anything went wrong. I was part of the gang member and security detail, carrying a loaded rifle as my primary weapon. Everything seemed tense but under control. Suddenly, a bullet fell out of my rifle, hit the floor, and accidentally discharged. The loud gunshot echoed through the building. Everyone heard it. Thinking that the other side had opened fire, both gangs immediately started shooting at each other. Within seconds, the peace talks collapsed into chaos, and a full-scale gun battle erupted. A single accidental shot had destroyed any chance of a peaceful settlement, that my mistake.
