The New York City Dream Turned Alien

I had a dream that I lived in New York City. In the dream I was going to drink at an old bar I used to work at called Mighty. I saw the owner walk in, who I despise, and I quickly gathered my things to leave. Before I walked out I rummaged through a drawer I’d taken from earlier, trying to hide the evidence so none of the other girls working in the bar would get in trouble. Then I decided I didn’t care and that the owner couldn’t have that pull on me anymore. I left things as they were and walked out. Next a brewer working there found me and asked if I wanted to hang out. I agreed begrudgingly and was not shocked, only mortified, when he popped into a small book story where he bought me a twenty dollar magnet that he’d “had his eyes on for awhile bc he thought I’d like it.” I did like it but I didn’t need all that from him. Somehow I left the date with two cool girls that were on a field trip to “kings” I thought they meant “kings-island” the amusement park and became antsy when the clock turned to five pm. I saw multiple friends there on my snap chat map but quickly realized it was people from Indiana. I wasn’t anywhere near the beloved park. Of course, I ended up on their bus with them. the girl I didn’t know (the other was Cass from work) told me she wanted to know about me. I hated that I told her about James to start. As though the heart break he put me through years ago embodied who I am as a person. I didn’t have time to finish my sentence though because the buss fell into a massive hole and glided down. We were all scared but the buss never flipped or turned, it stayed parallel to the ground as we descended. I made the mental note that my stomach wasn’t fluttering like it would if i were dropping in real life. The bus hit the ground with a loud jostle and stayed still. stuck in the deep dark tunnel, we waited silently. Then, Crawling on large spindly legs and clicking its wet mouth, a scorpion looking alien half the size of the bus dropped to the top with a loud bang and began to skitter across the surface. From outside our windows we could see its tail lashing side to side. We held with bated breath as it looked in the windows and began breathing a cool mist on people. One girl did not keep her eyes shut and it attacked her. Sending both claws through her, killing her instantly. The bus driver, a professor , stood with an axe and said not to look the monster in the eyes. She seemed like she was in on it when she chopped the girls head off as some sick offering. Me and the girl I didn’t know got up and booked it as the first victim was eaten. I got the axe and cursed myself for throwing it into a sewer. (It had someone else’s blood on it! I was sprinting down the streets of New York with a blood spattered axe. Come on.) We found a hotel that reminds me of the grand MGM and went inside. We needed to go find a good hiding spot. We started moving upstairs but heard loud crashing above us and knew it followed us here. We climbed back down and found a men’s restroom. Earlier in the dream the girl made some off handed Disney comment she wouldn’t explain. She told me as we weaved our way through rows of porcelain that it was because her ex loved Disney so she desecrated the name whenever she could. Before we settled three red heads walked in (all three of my exes are red heads) the girl seemed annoyed and hurt for a second until the yelling outside and crashing of glass and who knows what else drifted closer. We told everyone to hide and not look it in the eyes. We all got in urinals and bent our heads into our laps. I heard it sniff and blow air over my new friend and then it moved to me. I’ve never felt fear like that before. I knew I was dreaming and asked the dream to, just this once, let it pass over me. I didn’t want to die gruesomely. To my surprise. The beast passed over me without incident. It was the red head beside me that I think maybe represented my ex (and the girl a step between me and my higher self) that was attacked. My friend spoke up and told the beast to leave her ex alone. She asked me for the hatchet but I dumped it. Feeling responsible, I braved up and jumped on the beasts back. I tore into its head with my bare teeth and ripped a chuck out but it wasn’t enough. Claws moved to my back, I felt them drift over my soft skin and then I woke up.
