Set the Intention
...Mom and I met with a lady and she was putting together something that looked like slime. I saw mom mixing it together and I got nervous because, even though we were on PMR, there was a giant build like an African statue in one spot and then some other effigies around it. I remember thinking it was kind of overkill cuz it was too much stuff but it was obviously religious and I knew Mom didn't understand. There's a lot of people gathered around and it looked like they were all part of a family or one group. I know she was mixing up the 'slime' but she didn't understand the intention. It was to be baked or set up, so that everybody could partake. I understood that it was partially magic and it was the intention that was supposed to go into it and, people that didn't understand it, shouldn't be touching it. There was an old black lady there and I thought maybe she might not want two white people involved with whatever was going on. But three times she invited us in, letting us know that she'd caught us with the ingredients and the last time, she actually instructed me on why it was okay to mix it just the way mom was doing. The only problem was, the old woman was being impatient. She didn't want the entire mixture to be done, she was just trying to push it through and get it finished. It was weird because I cared more about the intention and the magical act of mixing than she did, even though it was her creation and she was the one in charge of the festivities. The reason I thought it was slime was because I remember large cups of glitter and, what looked like shaving cream, but it was also like a cake so it could have been edible glitter and whipped cream but she wouldn't let us mix it all the way. It bothered me because I wanted to do a good job and I knew that it would look beautiful once it was done but we had to take the time and set the intention...

Your dream seems rich with symbolic themes around intention, tradition, and connection to cultural or spiritual practices. The slime or mixture you observed being made, tied with glitter and something akin to whipped cream or cake ingredients, could symbolize a creative or transformative process—something that needs careful attention and respect in order to come together harmoniously. The emphasis on "intention" suggests a deep awareness in your dream self about the importance of mindfulness and purpose behind actions, especially in communal or sacred contexts. The presence of the large statue and effigies, along with the gathering of people who appear to be a family or close group, might represent a collective history or shared belief system that feels powerful and perhaps a bit overwhelming or foreign. Your feeling that your mom didn't understand the significance speaks to a perception of varying levels of awareness or connection to these traditions, highlighting how cultural or spiritual meanings can be interpreted differently by individuals. The interactions with the wise older woman—her repeated invitations and eventual guidance despite impatience—suggest a figure of authority or wisdom who is trying to bridge divides, even if the process feels rushed. Your attentive care to the process contrasts with her impatience, possibly reflecting an internal tension between honoring depth and tradition versus the pressure to move forward pragmatically. Overall, this dream might be exploring your sense of responsibility or desire to engage meaningfully with cultural or spiritual "recipes"—whether literal or metaphorical—and the challenge of balancing respect for tradition with practical time constraints. It may also touch on your sensitivity to inclusion, boundaries, and the subtle dynamics of belonging within a group deeply rooted in shared rituals. The emotional undertone seems thoughtful and reflective, inviting you to consider how intention shapes the experiences you participate in and the importance of patience in nurturing something delicate and meaningful.
