The cult that cuts off nose tips and the movie that never got made
I had a dream that I was locked into some weird ass community / cult where every day we had to pull a card to see who would be killed. It started off with whoever pulled the card having to cut off a piece of themselves or die. If they successfully removed a part of their body (tip of their nose or finger) then the person whose name was called would be killed as planned or else the group would turn on the ones that wouldn’t or couldn’t cut a piece of themselves off. The dream is a bit hazy but I remember challenging the tradition and it really rattling everyone, turning them against me. The second dream I had I was asked to be an amateur videographer for a movie someone I “knew” was trying to get recorded. I took the weekend off to do it. The dream took place on a boat and the process of prepping everything, getting the boat marked for shots, and readying the set / actors took so long that the first day we lost sun. the second day the captain was leaving work — despite me offering him a chance to be named in the credits— by the time we were ready and we had to scramble to figure out how to move the boat ourselves. I watched from outside the ship in horror as the director lifted it from its spot, struggling the entire time to the point of making me anxious, and dropped it into the water. By the time we were ready to record all of our phones were dead and we had to stay another day. Some acted as though it wasn’t that big of a deal but I was furious since I don’t get PTO with my job. on the final day a few people disappeared to hit up the local grocery and took so long that I was pissed at them by the time they got back. We never got the movie shot which was disappointing because I was very excited to be apart of something creative and collaborative.
✨ AI Generated Interpretation
Thank you for sharing these vivid dreams. They each seem to explore themes of control, sacrifice, collaboration, and frustration, with rich symbolic textures. Here’s a calm, neutral interpretation focusing on those aspects: In the first dream, the cult with its ritual of self-mutilation paired with lethal consequences suggests a powerful metaphor around sacrifice and conformity. Cutting off a part of oneself to avoid a worse fate can symbolize the emotional or psychological compromises people feel pressured to make in social groups or systems—perhaps feeling that some personal aspect must be given up to belong or survive. Your challenge to the tradition and the resulting conflict highlights a strong desire for autonomy and resistance against unquestioned or harmful norms. The group turning against you may symbolize the isolation or backlash experienced when disrupting entrenched patterns or beliefs. The nose tip and finger as specific body parts might carry symbolic weight: the nose, often associated with identity or perception; the finger, linked to touch or agency. Their removal could represent feeling compelled to give up core parts of identity or ability, pointing toward anxieties about losing one’s sense of self or power in exchange for safety or acceptance. Your second dream moves into a setting of creative collaboration, responsibility, and unexpected obstacles. Being entrusted with the role of videographer reflects a role of observation and facilitation—helping to capture others’ visions. The slow preparations, technical difficulties, and eventual inability to complete the movie evoke feelings of frustration, wasted effort, and thwarted enthusiasm. The boat setting may symbolize navigating through emotional or collective currents—journeying together creatively but facing challenges that feel beyond your control. The dead phones and disappearing crew members amplify this sense of disconnection and loss of control, while your specific annoyance about lost time and lack of paid leave underscores a real-life sensitivity to investing energy and not being fully supported or valued in collaborative contexts. The unmade movie becomes a poignant symbol for unrealized dreams or projects that hold personal meaning but are impeded by circumstances or group dynamics. Together, these dreams could be reflecting your inner dialogue about personal sacrifice versus integrity, the tension between individual agency and group expectations, and the emotional complexity of engaging in creative or collective endeavors that don’t unfold as hoped. They invite reflection on boundaries, how you claim your voice, and the balance between persistence and self-care. I hope this offers some thoughtful angles on your dreams, honoring their complexity while exploring universal emotional themes. If you’d like, I’m here to help explore any part of these dreams further.
