Back with Abusive Ex

For some reason, I had gotten back together with my ex who mentally and physically abused me. He had wiggled his way back into my life and I was sneaking out of my house to go see him. I would stay at his house and then come home, lying to everyone I saw about what I was doing. Then I met my current boyfriend. And I knew that I couldn’t keep seeing my abusive ex, who wanted to keep everything a secret anyway. I knew what I had to do, so I escaped his house, came back to mine, and then texted him to ask him for my things back casually. Like “oh can you bring my things over?” I think it was like a hair tie or something ridiculous. So he brings it, and as he’s delivering it he figures out that I’m leaving him and I can see the rage in his face. But I’m at my house, so he can’t do anything, he just walks away. And I never hear from him again. I kept waiting for him to text me, berating me or calling me stupid or whatever, but it never came.
